Richie "Cat" Catalano is an accomplished drummer, singer and songwriter. Growing up in Wethersfield, Connecticut he started involving himself in music at an early age. Inspired by his parent’s record collection he developed a passion for drumming and singing. While attending High school, Richie sought out the professional instruction of Bob Gatzen to further improve his talents as a drummer and with Ted Seibs from Boston’s Berkley College of Music, where they both shared ideas and experimented with many styles of music from jazz to rock. In 2010 Richie continued his studies with Legendary Drummer and Educator Joe Morello. After playing for many bands and making a name for himself in the community, he worked with some of Connecticut’s finest musicians. Soon enough, Richie was recruited by former band members of Jasper Wrath to form the band EYES. Recording their first album "We’re In It Together," local radio station 99.1 WPLR was playing their first single. EYES quickly earned the reputation as one of CT’s most popular bands. From sold out shows to playing for major record labels, EYES proved themselves to be the true original rockers of CT.

Richie has worked and toured with Andrew Strong, the original singer from the hit film "The Commitments," Tom Peterson from Cheap Trick, Kasim Sulton from Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, James Christian from House of Lords, and record producers John Anthony who co-produced Queen’s first album and Paul Leka who is famous for writing the multi-platinum hit "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye". While living in NYC, Richie showcased for major record labels, played live, and continued to record while touring the New England region. Richie was honored with the award of 2nd place by The New Haven Advocate & Toad’s Place as best drummer and band (EYES) in the late 1980s.

Richie’s life long commitment, passion and dedication for playing drums and music has given him the opportunity to share his knowledge, expertise and love for the instrument with the students at RVP Studios.
